It is important for the scientists, that these developments can be directly influenced by them, so that the robots have no chance to evolve themselves on their own, because this could be very dangerous for the humanity. These developments are bordered by the insufficient amount of memory and other inflexible solutions.

Even KITT in the series of the 80s was able to act on his own. Theoretical it is possible, that robots go on the road on their own or recognize objects- but this is not perfected.
